BORSTAL YACHTSMAN

PETITION FOR EXTRADITION.

HOBART, May 19. A petition signed by leading citizens of Tasmania has been drawn up for presentation to the Minister of Justice in New'Zealand, praying that leniency be extended to Richard Humphreys, who was recently extradited from Tasmania.

Among the signatories are Lieuten-ant-Governor Sir John Evans, Premier Cosgrove, Leader of the Opposition (Mr H. S. Baker), President of the Legislative Council (Mr T. Murdoch), President of the Council of Churches (Mr D. A. Bowes), Chief Secretary Brooker, the Lord Mayor, Aiderman J. Soundy, and the former Premier, Sir John McPhee.
