——o—[Special to “Argus.”] CHRISTCHURCH, May 6. Fat Sheep.-—The entry showed a slight increase, with a fair showing of prime wethers and young ewes. The sale was spirited at the final stages, especially with butchers ewes. Values were: Prime Wethers 26s to 345; light and ordinary wethers 22s to 25s 6d; prime ewes 265; butchers’ ewies 20s to 235; ordinary and light ewes 13s t-x 19s. Fat Cattle. —The entry was smaller than last week. There was some good quality, but the standard was moderate, cull cows and heifei s forming a considerable proportion. Values were easier, especially in the later stages. Best beef sold from 37s to 39s per 100 lbs.; average 3os to 36s 6d; and ordinary to rough' 26s to 34s per 100 lbs. Values were: Extra prime steers £l7 2s 6d; prime £l2 to £l5 15s; light to ordinary steers £lO to £ll 10s; extra prime heifers £l3 2s 6d; prime heifers £9 to £lO 15s; ordinary heifers £6 to £8 10s; cows £4 15s to £4 17s 6d. Fat® Pigs.—There was a heavy entry in the porker section. Values opened lower, but improved. Choppers were in heavy supply. There was no change in values. Baconers formed a heavy entry. The market ended firmly. Values were: Porkers 34s 6d to £3 4s 6d; average price 61d to 7id per lb.; bacon £3 3s 6d to £4 4s 6d; average price 6Jd to 7Jd per lb. Vealers.—The entry was of a medium, mixed quality. Values slightly improved. Values were: barge £4 13s 6d to £7 8s 6d; vealers £2 Ils to £4 16s; calves 6d to 545. Store Cattle.—The entry was of an improved quality, with one or two lines of well-bred station cattle. One pen of W. 18. K. Potts’ entry fetched £ll 8s 6d; and one pen of 18months heifers sold at £5 13s 6d; while 18-months steers sold •at £6 13s 6d.

Store Pigs.—There was a large entry. The market was disappointing. Values eased by 6s to 8s per head, practically all round. Small weaners sold from 5s io 8s; and best weaners 8s 6d to 12s; stores 16s to 48s. Fat Lambs.—The entry was smaller than that in the previous week. Owing to an advance of a half-penny per lb., exporters bought at a new rate. The yarding comprised mainly light sorts. Heavier lambs fetched 31s to 34s Id. Butchers paid from 27s to 30s for most of their purchases.
