Wages and Sales Tax PAYABLE FROM NEXT WEEK. P.A. WELLINGTON, May 6. Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, Acting-Minister-in-Charge of Land and Income Tax, announced to-night that the increase in the National Security. Tax from Is to Is 6d in the pound, making the combined charge of 2s 6d in the £, would apply to all salaries and wages derived in respect of any period after Sunday next, May 10; and to all instalments of the combined charge that became due and payable on or after May 1, 1942. He said that legislation to this effect will be introduced to-morrow, and, in the meantime, this statement would be of assistance to those who wished to make- up wage sheets, or to pay instalments of the Social Security charge and National Security Tax.
