WAR ITEMS

LONDON, April 30.

The body of Lieutenant-Com-mander Esmond, V.C., who led Swordfish torpedo planes against the German battleships, Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, has been recovered from the Medway. It was announced on February 15 that L;eutenant-Com-mander Esmond had been killed. He was' formerly with Imperial Airways. One of the pioneer pilots of the Empire air routes, he flew 500,000 miles in five years.
