TRANSPORT LICENSING
SITTING OF AUTHORITY.
The No. 3 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr. T. H. Langford) held a sitting in Greymouth on Friday morning. Applications were dealt with (as foilowls: — W. R. McGregor (Mr. V/. D. Taylor), of Blackball, applied for a new taxi-'cab service license, for the operation of one private hire cab. Mr. Taylor said that the previous holder of the license had surrendered it, being fully employed in the mine. The applicant said that a' taxi service was needed in Blackball. There was no taxi operating between ,Brunner and Reefton. There were no objections offered and the application wa's granted. H. L. Vroblefski, of Hokitika did not appear in support of his applica,tion for a new taxi-cab seryuce license, which had been adjourned from Octobei’ 23, 1941. The application wa's refused, the Authority stating that the reports were not satisfactory.
The licenses of Q. E. Barrow, Greymouth. C. M. Mathieson, Reefton, C. E. Reiha, Ikamatua. Botica Bros., and Helson, Evans Creek, and A. S. G. McGeady, Greymouth, who are no longer operating, were 1 revoked.
Dealing with the taxi-cab license of J. F. Shannon, Hokitika, which was due for review, the Authority stated that the service was being carried out satisfactorily, and that therefore the review would not be proceeded with. The application of G. J. Williams, Blackwater, for a passenger service License to operate from Waiuta township to the mine shaft, was granted. An application by the Minister for Railways for amendments to a passenger service license between Greymouth and Blackball, regarding fare and time-tables was granted. Decision was reserved in an application by Thompson Timbers, Ltd, represented by Mr. H. Herring, for a new goods service license with one vehicle authority available for the cartage of applicant’s own timber from the mill at Mawheraiti to the rail, and-also to permit the carting of machinery for repairs to Greymouth in case of urgency. . A transfer of a goods service licence, M. K. Molloy to E. T. Molloy, was granted. A transfer of a goods service hcens° from W. H. Batchelor to r • R. Stevens to J. Au Rhodes. Rimu, (Mr. E. B. E. Taylor) wa's grantedAn amendment to the license of Rhodes was also granted to permit him to cart firewood from the Rua~ tapu and Mananui mills and from points between Rimu and Ruatapu, and also to pick up firewood as a back load from the Ross mill for supply to Rimu and Woodstock resiCle q> tS p On Cr'oft, Stillwater represented bv Mr. W. Area: Grey County, excluding Cobden Rld lPg~ general goods, with access to Greymoutih borough. Applicant stated that he wished to have the amend merit to eliminate empty running The application was amended at tne request of the Authority and was granted only with the right to cart reneral goods in the Grey County exclusive of the Greymouth Borough. An application by P- N. c °y le > Hokitika, for an amendment to a goods service license was aajourned to the next sitting at Hokitika.
