SMOKE SCREENS
USE BY U.S.A. ANTI-TANK UNITS
(Rec. 11.0.) WASHINGTON, Mar. 12. The United States Chemical Warfare Service has reported making successful experiments with smoke screens, which delayed an entire motorised regiment for an hour and a,- 1 half. Anti-tank units have been quick to adopt smoke as a means of slowing up, catising loss of direction, land paralysing tank movements temporarily. Whenever desired, smoke can be lifted to provide a better target. The tanks are then silhouetted against a smoke background.
