RECAPTURED BY TRANSVAAL POLICE. JOHANNESBURG. February 23. An officer of the Boer organisation, Ossewa-Brandwag, Johannes Vanderwalt, ranking as a “general” who had been arrested, escaned from custody recently, but has been recaptured. A force of Krugersdorp police surrounded a farmhouse where Vanderwalt was hiding Thev demanded his surrender. A window was opened, and he appeared, revolver in hand, but he refused to surrender. The police fired before ' Vanderwalt was able to do so. He was seriously injured. SOUTH-WEST AFRICA. GERMANS DEPRIVED OF NATIONALITY- RIGHTS. (Rec. 1.20). CAPETOWN, Feb. 24. The Union Minister of the Interior, Mr. Lawrence, has introduced a Bill depriving the South-west African Germans of their Union nationality. This they automatically acquired under legislation that was passed in 1924 and 1928. He explained that this measure wa's necessary because many of the naturalised Germans abused , Union nationality by promoting Germany’s interest against South Africa’s interest.
