While being towed to port she capsized, necessitating her being sunk by gunfire. The loss of life is moderate. The Panamanian tanker Thalia, 8329 tons, was torpedoed near tho Moncos Islands, about 100 miles from Aruba. Three lifeboats carrying the crew were sighted 50 miles off Moncos. ‘ LONDON, February 23. Queen Wilhelmina of Holland in a broadcast referred to the Caribbean area. The Queen said that the menace to Curacao and other islands .was imminent. At any moment the same fate might befall Surinam. The U.S. Navy has announced that a seven thousand-ton United States cargo ship has been torpedoed and sunk in the, Caribbean Sea, sixty miles off the Cuban coast.
