EASING IN PRICES. (Special to “Argust) CHRISTCHURCH, February 4. , The sale of live-stock ro-day ai Addington, is reviewed by Messrs Matson and Co. as follows: — Fat Cattle: There was an increased entry of 600 head. The quality was better, with a good showing of prime light and medium weights. The market was easier. There were passings towards the finish. Values were: Extra prime steers £lB 2s 6d; prime £l6 15s Od; medium £l5 10s Od and light and ordinary £lO 5s Od to £l3 0s Od. Fat Sheep: There was a smaller entry of fat sheep, 3,500 head, but an increase in the proportion of wethers. ’There was a slight easing in values, except for prime ewes, which met a firm market. Values were: Extra prime wethers to 31s; prime wethers 27s 6d: medium wethers 25s 6d; light and ordinary 20s to 235; extra prime ewes 225: medium ewes 17s; light and ordinary ewe? 10s to 12s. Vealers: There was an increased entry, with a good showing of prime suckers, but there was a weaker market. Large runners were fewer, and met with a good sale. Ordinary calves were easier. Large runners sold to £9 18s Od; good vealers £5 13s 6d; large calves £3 3s 6d. Pigs: A medium entry of porkers met with keen competition for quality sorts. Choppers were in medium -supply. . These had a dragging sale. Choppers sold to £5 18s 6d. tile average price per lb. being Gjd to 7 Id. There was a larger entry ,of baconers. Competition was rair, .with a slight easing in values on last week. There was a good sale. The average price per lb. was 5Sd to 7d. There was a medium entry of store pigs, which met keener competition, with a slight increase in values all round. Large stores sold to 335, slips to 18s, and best weaners to 16s.
