THAILAND BATTLES
BRITISH VERSUS JAPS AND THAIS. BANGKOK, December 16. The Thai High Command announced that British assaults were repulsed, especially, ill the- south, where British troops sustained considerable damage, and fled to Burma, abandoning aims and ammunition. LONDON, December IP The Tokio radio reported that two contingents of Japanese troops had arrived at Bangkok, in accordance with the new Japan-Thailand agreement. A Domei New:; Agency message from Bangkok reported that the Thai army .was energetically counterattacking British forces in the west, south, and north of Thailand. CHINESE ALLIANCE PROPOSAL. CHUNGKING. December 16. The Government spokesman said Chiang Kai-shek has formally proposed a military alliance between all nations fighting the Axis. He declined to reveal whether they have answered. Ninety per cent, of China's war strength remains to be thrown into conflict, the Kuomintang’s central executive, committee declared, when it called for redoubled economical political and military effort
