Thev were retained after the Syrian armistice (Oi garrison duties. There is a French force in Salonika now reported to total thirty thousand men. They are nartially mechanised. They are not performing garrisop. duties, but they consider themselves to be the spearhead for the reconquest of Syria, with the slogan “Syria in Two Months! Thev believe that they possibly will synchronise the conquest of of Syria with a German advance on Batum.
