King left last evening on a visit to Christchurch. Mr A. H. Robertson returned yesterday from Christchurch. Mr B. R. Hill returned by yesterday’s express from Christchurch. Mrs T 4 Bdllamy returned from Christchurch yesterday. Mr J. Kerr returned yesterday from Christchurch. Mr J. Truman left for, Christchurch last evening. Leading Aircraftsman T. Baty left bv last evening’s rail-car tu Christchurch. Constable P. J. Larmer, Greymouth has received notice of transfer to Hokitika. Mr J. Anderson, of. Christchurch, who has been visiting the West Coast left last evening on return. Messrs K. Fitzsimmons and C. Henderson, of Christchurch, arried yesterday morning .on a visit to Greymouth. Messrs E. Findlav and E. G. McMurtrie- left yesterday for Wellington to join the aerodrome construction company at Rongotai. Mr and Mrs Claude H. Belsham of Invercargill, spent the week-end with Mr and Mrs W. L. Taylor, 45 Arney Street, and returned to Invercargill bv the express yesterday. , Guests at Revington’s Hotel include Mr and Mrs Robert Archibald (Wellington) Mr A. E. Christie,, Mrs R. Macalister, Mr P. G. Martin. Mr R. J. Sheehy, Mrs Spence, Mrs Harrington, Mr E. G. Brown, Mr J. Connor (Christchurch) i Messrs F. A. Kitchingham (Greymouth) and J. A. Murdoch (Hokitika; will represent the Westland Provincial Patriotic Council at the Provincial Patriotic ’Councils’ Conference at Wellington on Thursday. Mr Murdoch left by yesterday’s express for Wellington. Mr T. Learmont, junr.. left last evening for Wellington to join the R.N.Z.A.F. at Rongotai. He was farewelled at the station by the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs F. A. Kitchingham) and presented with a gift parcel bv a member of the women’s branch of the Greymouth Patriotic Society. His. wife will accompany him to Wellington. The friends of Mrs T. Haddock, Hampden Street, Hokitika, will regret to learn of the death of her mother, Mrs Margaret McDonald Brown, which occurred suddenly on Friday last, at her residence. Havelock Street West, Ashburton. The late Mrs Brown who was 85 years oi age, was a well-knqwn and esteemed resident of Ashburton. Mrs T. G. Marlow, of Epsom, one of the oldest residents of New Zealand, celebrates her one hundred and fourth birthday to-morrow. She- lately i ecovered from three months serious illness —an attack of influenza, followed by pleurisy and pneumonia. Born a few months after Queen Victoria’s accession. Mrs Marlow came to New Zealand 76 years ago. Mr D. S. Nicholson, who has resigned from his position as superintendent of the Grey River dredge w take another appointment, was farewelled by the employees of the company at Ikamatua recently. The acting’ dredgemaster, Mr D. Mcßae, making a presentation of a wallet of notes, expressed regret at- Mr Nicholson’s departure and wished him ever success in his new position.
