Opera House Now Showing: “Sandy Gets Her Man” and “Sante Fe Marshall-’’ “SANDY GETS HER MAN” Surrounded by a group of Hollywood comedy favourites, Baby Sandy has the starring role in “Sandy Gets Her Man,” a hilarious three-alarm laugh riot, now screneing at tho Opera House. Presented in a streamline story which blends comedy with fast action an! suspense, the child star has expert support from a hand-picked cast of laugh favourites, which include Stuart Erwin, Una Merkel, William Frawley, Edgar Kennedy, Jack Carson, Wally Vernon, Edward Brophy and William Davidson. Complications in the story centre upon rivalry between th e fire and police departments. Each sends one of their men to try and marry the city finance commissioner’s daughter, Miss Merkel, in the hope of getting a bigger slice of city funds for new equipment And the fun begins when Miss Merkel, a widow, decides to let Sandy take a hand in selecting a future step-father. Hilarious scenes are those in which Erwin tries cave man tactics in his courtship, and those where police officers try to amuse Sandy. Thrilling action surrounds scenes in which Sandy goes for a wild ride on the back of a hook and ladder truck and is found later atop a blazing building.
“SANTE FE MARSHALL" Paced with rip-roaring action, thrills and romance, the latest of the “Hopalong Cassidy” series, “Sante Fe Marshall,” with William Boyd in the starring role is now at Opera House. “Sante Fe Marshall” tells a thrilling story of Boyd’s efforts to capture a gang of outlaws who have stolen the payroll of a silver mine and committed a murder in the bargain. Featured in the cast are Russell Hayden, Miss Rambeau, .Bernadene Hayes, Earl Hodgins and Matt Moore.

DeMille production, “North West Mounted Police” is a stirring motion picture story of the gallantry and bravery with which a small force of Mounted faced thousands of murdersome halfbreeds in what amounted to Canada’s Civil War, starring Gary Cooper and Madeleine Carroll, <and featuring a host of other stars including Paulette Goddard, Preston Foster, Robert Preston, Akim Tamiroff, Lynne Overman, George Bancroft, Lon Chaney, iunr.. Walter Hamnden and thousands of others. Filmed in technibolour —it is the first picture in which DeMille has employed colour throughout—“ North West Mounted Police" traces the effects of the half-breeds’ rebellion on the lives of many people, including the courageous Mounted Police, and a Texas Ranger who is out to capture one of the leaders of the rebellion. And woven into the main story fabric are the tales of two loves—that of a Mounted Policeman and a Texas Ranger, for a fearless nurse, and of
