Opera House Now Showing: “Sandy Gets Her Man” and “Sante Fe Marshall-’’ “SANDY GETS HER MAN” Surrounded by a group of Hollywood comedy favourites, Baby Sandy has the starring role in “Sandy Gets Her Man,” a hilarious three-alarm laugh riot, now screneing at tho Opera House. Presented in a streamline story which blends comedy with fast action an! suspense, the child star has expert support from a hand-picked cast of laugh favourites, which include Stuart Erwin, Una Merkel, William Frawley, Edgar Kennedy, Jack Carson, Wally Vernon, Edward Brophy and William Davidson. Complications in the story centre upon rivalry between th e fire and police departments. Each sends one of their men to try and marry the city finance commissioner’s daughter, Miss Merkel, in the hope of getting a bigger slice of city funds for new equipment And the fun begins when Miss Merkel, a widow, decides to let Sandy take a hand in selecting a future step-father. Hilarious scenes are those in which Erwin tries cave man tactics in his courtship, and those where police officers try to amuse Sandy. Thrilling action surrounds scenes in which Sandy goes for a wild ride on the back of a hook and ladder truck and is found later atop a blazing building.
