FLAG COMPETITION.

LEADING TOWNS

P.A. WELLINGTON, October 13. For the fortnightly period of the National Savings “flag ’ competition which ended on the 7th. instant, the only change recorded in respect to leading towns was in the Palmerston North District, where Shannon has displaced the Chief Post Office, Palmerston North, thus securnig the distinction of flying the flag during the next contest period. In all other districts, notwithstanding close competition in some cases, the position is unchanged, although increased percentages have been recorded in each case. The leading towns are now as follows: Auckland district, Kaikohe; Blenheim district, Picton; Christchurch district, Kaiapoi; Dunedin district, Owaka; Gisborne district; Opotiki; Greymjouth district, Hokitika; Hamilton district, Rotorua; Invercargill district, Tuatapere; Napier district, Taradale; Nelson district, Wakefield; New Plymouth district, Opunake; Oamaru district, Oamaru; Palmerston North District,/ Shannon; Thames district, Thames; Timaru district, Geraldine; Wanganui district, Waverley; Wellington district, Featherston; Westport district, Westport.
