At the monthly meeting of the Brunner Borough Council, on the motion of the Mayor (Mr J. Smeaton) a vote of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr George Gilbert of Stillwater, was carried, members standing in silence.

The golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs J'. W. Stubbs, Preston Road, will be celebrated to-day. ' Arrivals for the event include, Mr and Mrs A. C. Turtill, Hamilton; Mrs. W. H. McNee,. Wellington; and Mrs. M. L. Dwyer, Ngakawau.

There was a large attendance at the funeral of the late Mr. George Macpherson of Totara Flat which took place on Sunday afternoon at Karorc Cemetery. The services at the residence of Mrs. M. A. Methven, Byron Street, and at the graveside were conducted by Rev. A. D. Horwell. The Masonic service was conducted by' Wor. Bro. F. F. Boustridge.
