AN IDOL OF SYDNEYITES. (Rec. 10.30). SYDNEY, October 8. “There’s a real racehorse,” exclaimed a prominent owner, when Beau Vite romped home the winner for the second year in to-day s Craven Plate at Randwick. Strangely, he beat the same field as last vear, and again in record time, which is unanimously acknowledged to be no mean feat. Beau Vite has earned the title, “The Horse that won’t be beat.” He always receives lusty cheers from a very wide and ever-increasing circle of friends. Beau Vite is now a likelv starter in the Caulfield Cup, as well as in the Melbourne Cup, for which he is the most popular choice. Reading, who pressed Beau Vite to a neck victory to-day, in record time, accomplished a Herculean task, which lies spelt for him a complete rehabilitation. He at one stage was ten lengths ahead of the nearest opponent. The field then closed on the former New Zealander, who had shot his bolt. Glittering Flame then piloted the field, and looked an easy winner, but crashed at the secondlast jump. Beau Vite will start in the Caulfield Cup. He wil be ridden by D. Munro, who has relinquished ms mount on Rimveil. If Beau Vite wins he will probably incur a penalty, which may prejudice his Melbourne Cup prospects. Hesione, winner of the Gimcracic Stakes, is ,a half-sister to Ajax, although there is little resemblance, excepting the colour. . To-day’s attendance at Randwick, which was Ladies’ Day, was far greater than last year. The weather again w,as delightful. , Q MELBOURNE, October 8. Hesione is coming to Melbourne to run in the Barybyrnong Plate. Beau Vite is now stated to be, a definite starter Jn the Caulfield Cup, and this change of plans is reminiscent of the switch of Nightmarch for the Epsom to the Metropolitan some years ago. Prince Shad is engaged in the nrrt division of the Three-year-old Handicap at Mentone to-morrow. His stable mate, Silver Mask, makes his first appearance in Saturday’s. Denutante Stakes. Tomito and Billposter are amiss, and will be unable to fill their springengagements. Millais knocked his leg while galloping yesterday, and is a doubtful starter ‘in the Caulfield Guineas. MELBOURNE, Ortob’-r 7. Evergreen, Galliard and Rimveil Prince will arrive in Melbourne on Thursday. High Caste, Beau Son and Beau Vite are due at the week-end. There has been a„ suggestion h-.ie that Beau Vite mav run in the Caulfield Cup, but so far his owner has not seriously considered the matter, and the chances are that he v here to his original programme of concentrating on the Melbourne Cup. Yodvara has been scratched for the Caulfield Cup. Whether Premature will start in the Derby or the Wakeful Stakes depends on its showing in the Guineas on Saturday.
