All the other members were elected to the eummittee. The annual report stated: This has beema difficult year fo r Guiding, but probably the greatest difficuny has been ■caused by the black-out restrictions in Greymouth particularly. However, the situation has been met wonderfully well bv everyone, and Guides have kept their companies going efficiently. Guiders have had a busy time this vear. Most of them are working full time at their ordinary jobs and most of their leisure is occupied with war work in some form or other and yet they have not allowed their companies to suffer. In April it became necessary to close the Reefton company and pack which had been without a Guider fo r over a year. We regret the necessity for this and hope the time is not far distant when someone suitable may be found to start thg work again. We are hoping very shortly to reopen the Hokitika, Company. Much good preliminary work has been done for .us here by Mrs. Salvigny. The Ist. Greymouth Company with Miss White as captain and Miss J. Dawber and Miss N. Greymouth Company (St. Mary’s) nas a roll of 32. Miss Mary McDonnell, captain, left Greymouth at the end of the year, but .the company has been carried on efficiently by Miss Ailsa Heaphy as acting-captain. Cobden Company has done good work with Mrs. Anderson as captain and Miss Vera Gilmore as lieutenant. The Cobden Association suffered a severe loss during the vear in the death of Mrs. Castle. The Ist. Greymouth Brownie Pack is in a thriving condition just now, with Mrs. Mills as Brown Owl. There are 25 Brownies and 5 Tweenies on the roll at present. Nelson Creek Brownies are doing fine work under the leadership of Mrs. Taylor as Brown Owl. A pack was enrolled too at Inangahua Junction in April, and is doing good work with Miss Mitchell as acting-Brown Owl. All companies and packs have been doing great work during the vear, sewing and knitting for the refugees. An interesting and instructive camp was held at Paroa during the September holidays. under Miss Morten, of Christchurch. Each company had its re-
