GREEK DECORATION. AUCKLAND, October 6. A second Greek decoration has been awarded to a. New Zealander serving in the Middle East, Second-Lieuten-ant Winton Herbert Ryan, who was in command of the party of New Zealand soldiers which escorted King George I. of Greece during his escape from Crete. Lieut. Ryan has been appointed by King George t 0 the . Order of King George. Military Division, in recognition of the services he rendered as a member of the King’s bodyguard in the course of the evacuation of Crete. It was announced on June 28 that he had been awarded the Greek decoration of the Cross of George I. with swords. An Aucklander, Lieut. Ryan is 27 years of age. Before the war he was engaged cn aerodrome surveys for the Public Works Department.
