The Wallsend mine, which was yesterdav idle on account of a disoute regarding payment for work in a heated place, may resume to-day on the understanding that the matter shall be referred to a Disputes Committee. The dispute was due to the manager’s refusal of the special payment provided in the award in cases of heating. The pair of miners working in the place and some truckers therefore came out of the mine. The manager considered the place was not up to the temperature for which special payment is allowed. The mine continued working and yesterday morning the matter came up for discussion at a stop-work meeting of the Union. The manager received a deputation and offered to close the particular working-place, and refer the question to a disputes committee.
