General Antonescu, explaining the imposition of the death sentence for attempted sabotage on railways and in establishments working for the army, said there had been no sabotage for three months. The announcement was merely a warning. PITTSBURG, September 14. The Committee of Industrial Organisations of the United Mine Workers has called a strike of 8800 coal-miners employed by the United States Bethlehem, Republic and Wheeling Corporations, in mines the output of which is used entirely for the production of steel. The strike has been called because the Corporations refused to sign union shop contracts.
