Beck left for Christchurch last evening. Mrs H. Herring returned from Christchurch yesterday. ( Mrs A. McFarlane arrived vesterday from Dunedin. Staff-Sergeant S. Gurden returned yesterday from Burnham. Miss J. McNiven returned yesterday from Christchurch. Mrs C. Hickman returned yesterday from Christchurch. Mr. H. T. Coulter left yesterday for Christchurch. Private R. Airey left yesterday on return to Burnham Camp. Miss R. H. Shannahan, Railway Bcokstall staff Greymouth, left yesterday on transfer to Invercargill. Miss M. E. Ray was a passenger by yesterday’s express from Christchurch. ( , Mrs S. Plato and M r S. McLaughlan left last evening for Christchurch. .. Miss H. Williams left yesterday morning on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Mr L. P. Coffey, Railway Hotel, has been discharged from the Grey Hospital. Mr L. Kinsella, of Blackball, enters the Grey Hospital to-day for surgical treatment. . The Duke of Kent has returned to England from Canada, states a London message. Mr. D. J. Bradley, formerly of the P. and T. Staff, Greymouth commenced duties with' the Railways Department, Greymouth, yesterday. The condition of Mrs W. Watt, of Holland Settlement, Cobden, who underwent an operation in. the Buller District Hospital. Westport, is proving satisfactory. “ Mr. W. J Garnett, official secretary to the office of the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom will shortly leave New z ealand to join the office of the High Commissioner for the U.K. in Australia. Mr. R. W. Sedgwick, who will arrive in New Zealand from Australia at the end of the month will succeed him. Mr J. Cummings, Auckland Police Superintendent, has been transferred to the office of Commissioner at Wellington. Mr R. R. J. Ward, Inspector in Charge of Detectives at Auckland, whose promotion to Superintendent will probably be announced, will take his place. A number of transfers and promotions, affecting both senior and junior officers, are imminent. Guests at Revington’s Hotel include the following: Mr and Mrs R. S. The remains of the- late Mr William McLaughlan were conveyed to Christchurch by last evenings train for internment to-day. following Requiem Mass at the Cathedral, Barbadoes Street. Included In the large assembly at the Station were members of the National Military Reserve, who formed a guard of honour as the remains were- conveyed from the hearse to the mortuary van. There were also present many representatives of the West Coast Rugby Union and Referees’ Assn., also of the Post and Telegranh Department. Members of the National Military Reserve acted as pall-bearers. The marriage took place at St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Greymouth, .on Saturday, of Miss Beulah Roberts, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Roberts. Westport, and Mr Robert Finlavson, only son of Mr R. Finlayson, Westport. Rev. A? A. Bensley officiated. Mrs C. Douthett acted as Matron of Honour, and Mr W. Neighbours was best man. The bridegroom, being half-back for the Buller Rugbv team, members of the team formed a guard of honour as the bridal party left, the Church. The wedding breakfast was held at the residence of the bride’s aunt. Mrs Roberts.
