HARIHARI NOTES
(war Own Correspondent). Mr R. Millar, of Christchurch., who has been visiting Harihari, returned last week. Miss E. Kidd has been on a visit to her parents here, and has now returned to Christchurch. Mr M. Keating, o£ Greymouth, spent the week-end in this district. Mr J. Martini is on a visit to Greymouth. Mr Thomas Lucas, who recently arrived here from the North Island, was conveyed to the Westland Hosai at the week-end for treatment. ' Private G. Kerr, of Trentham Camp, is at present on leave at I Weheka. Private Kerr was formerly I employed by the N.Z.R. Road Ser- ■ vices at Weheka. Messrs P. Kirby, J. Holmes, G Robertson, and A. Hibbs, .were recent visitors to Greymouth. Mr W. Chisnail is at present on a visit to his son, Mr Erie Chisnall. A pleasant evening was spent in the Harihari Hall on Friday, when a farewell was tendered t© Gunner Robin Rowley, R.N.Z.A.F., Levin. During the evening the presentation of an envelope of notes was made to the guest by Mr G. Robinson, on behalf of the Harihari Football Club. On behalf of the Rover Club, Gunner Rowley was presented with a shaving outfit by the captain, Mr r. Wyatt. Other speakers tc wish Gunner Rowley success were Messrs Woodham (Returned Soldiers), W. Searle, junr. (Harihari residents) and the father of the guest, Mr G. Rowley A dainty supper was served by the ladies committee. The Women’s Institute bad, to have been held in the Public Hall last Friday night, was postponed owing to the send-off being tendered to Gunner Rowley Up to the present time, comparatively small catches of .whitebait < have been made in the South Westland rivers.
