No cases of infectious disease was reported on the West Coast last week. In Canterbury district one case of tuberculosis, one of diptheria, one of septic abortion, and two or scarlet fever, were reported.
A London cable states: The national accounts reveal that the King s nrivv purse grant for the year endea March 31st. last., was £9,996, compared with £29,826 in the previous year.

The Greymouth Borough Council has received two tenders for the construction of the Centennial Memorial Piunket and Rest Rooms. It is understood that the tenders will not be dealt with for some weeks.

Of thirty-nine men called for service oversea, who were on Tuesday medically examined here, 23 were passed as fit. Ten were classed as temporarily and one as permanently unfit, four of the former being rated as lit for the Territorials. In addition one man called for Territorial service was passed as fit. The classification of three men was deferred.

The roll for the Westland electorate closed on Monday, 2000 names having oeen removed from the roll, and during the past few weeks notices have been sent to all electors not known to the Registrar. When these notices were returned unopened, a second notice has been sent, and u this is returned unclaimed the name is removed from the list. It is possible that electors who have failed to notify their change of address have been removed. The supplementary roll opened on Tuesday.
