Armstrong played solidly throughout, his best breaks including 56, 44. 44, 33, 30. 36; O’Neill’s best breaks were 36, 30, 09. Moses, 1940 N.Z. champion, and Alberston, former N.Z. champion, provided a packed gallery with a J’ are tussle. Moses began quicker than usual, and from an earlv lead he looked to have a good chance. Alberston then settled to his best game, and at 300 he was only 18 behind. At 418 Alberston went ahead, Moses then being 394. Moses rallied, with the assistance of some nice breaks, and, enjoying the better run. of the balls, he reached 500 slightly ahead of Albertston. He imoroved his lead after some safety nlav. in which Alberston was unfortunate, and went on to win. The. best breaks were:— Moses: 50, 68, 55; and Alberston: 43. 37, 58, 42. :
