HEARING AT REEFTON. A sitting of the No. 9a Area ManPower Committee was held at Reefton Courthouse on Friday, when appeals against Territorial service were heard. Mr W. Meldrum piesiaed, and w'ith him were Messrs P. J. McLean and A. J. Panther

Alexander Mines Ltd. appealed on the ground of public interest for Maurice Williams and Wallace G. Bissett, amalgamators, and for Uric S. Bierwirth, miner. Adjourned s.ne die for Williams and Bissett. Postponement of service for Bierwirth granted until January, 1942, to be reviewed at that date Burke’s Creek Collieries, Ltd., appealed on the ground of public interest for John A. Ecklund, Robert G. Gilmour, John W. Lundon, and Harry A. Lockington. Mr C. D. Buist submitted a statement on the diflicultv of obtaining truckers. Service postponed for Ecklund and Gilmour to October 1. Service postponed for Lundon to January 1. Service postponed for Lockington to October 11941 , Blackwater Mines, Ltd., appealed on ground of public interest for Percy E. Shaw (miner), James Latham (miner) and Aian G. Reid (mine surveyor). The appeals were adjourned sine die, on the condition that reservists ioin the Home Guard
