At last night’s meeting oi the Westport Borough Council, the Mayor (Mr J M. Robertson), referred to the death of Mrs J. W. Jope wile of the Borough Inspector, and Councinois stood in silence as a mark of respect. A Grant Approved: Owing to the press report of the last meetin nr or the Nelson Education Board disclosing that still no progress had been made with regard to -repanng. tne site for the new school, the Westport Committee ’phoned Hon P. C. Webb and asked that the matter be expedited. As a result of Mr Webbs activities he tele"' , ”nhed the Chairman of the Westnort School Committee, as follows: “Mrs W. L. Iluntei 1 have pleasure in informing you that a grant has been approved to the Nelson Education Board for the draining and rough levelling °f the North School site. The School Committee on behalf of parents, and children, expjess their appreciation toi Mr Webb’s action.
