Home Guard Commander MAKES AN APOLOGY. (P.A.) AUCKLAND. July 23. The following statement has been made by Colonel Aldred, Home Guard Commander, Auckland District, in regard to the criticism of his recent action by Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Man Power: —“In my anxiety to allay growing dissatisfaction amongst Home Guardsmen regarding their future, it would appear that 1 have inadvertently disclosed certain nformation which General Young, the Dominion Commander of the Home Guard, considers should have been regarded as confidential. This being- so, I express regret. Until such time as full details of future! policv are made known, I appeal to j all Guardsmen to carry out their training wholeheartedly, as heretofore.
