FAILURE TO ENROL. ARRESTS ORDErt. (P.A.) AUCKLAND. Julv 18. Several men were charged at the Police Court with failing to enrol for military service. Two whose enrolments were merely late, were fined £2 and costs 10s each. In the case of Phillip Charles Hartland, aged 23, who pleaded guiltv the police said Hartland filled in the form, but had neglected to post it. When he applied for a new job and his certificate was demanded, he produced his brother’s certificate, thus deceiving the firm, which was prosecuted. He had now enrolled. The Magistrate, Mr Hunt, sentenced Hartland to fourteen days’ imprisonment. In two other cases, where men did not appear, tne Magistrate issued a warrant for their arrest.
