Both the bride and bridesmaid carried suitable Pouquets. Tne pridegroom was attended by Sergt. M D Jopling, N.Z. Field Ambulance. Both tne bridegroom and best man have peen on active service m Fiji for tjlie past seven months. In tha evening Mr and Mrs H. Courtney entertained, a number of friends in Institute Hall, when an enjoyable evening was sepnt in song and dancing. Many useful and costly presents were received by the young couple l , testifying to their popularity. Sergt. Robertson thanked all those who had donated gifts, and assured them that they wei;e very much appreciated by Mrs Robertson and himself. On Wednesday evening an evening was held in their honour by the Women’s Institute and other local organisations in the Institute Hall. The happy young couple were again the recipients of many useful presents, including an eiderdown qiji.it from the staff and boarders of the Empire Hotel, an electric iron from Mr and Mrs J. J. Ryan, elqctric jug from Mr R. Davis, a cheque from Miss R Harris and Mr M. Gidley, a silver coffee service from the St. John’s Ambul- j ance, and many others. In addition, Sergeants Robertson and Jobling were presented with parcels of tobacco from the local Soldiers’ Entertainment Fund Both suitably replied, and were greeted with musical honours. A very happy gathering terminated at midnight with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
