NINE INDEPENDENTS RETURNED.

SYDNEY, May 22

In Hornsby, the last State electorate is to be finalised. Mr. Storey (Independent) defeated the U.A.P candidate, Mr. W. Francis, by 30 votes. This result makes the strength of the parties in the new House as fololws: Labour 53, Independent Labour 1, U.A.P. 15, U.C.P. 12, Independents 9. The Cabinet held its first meeting yesterday and decided to investigate at once the causes of Sydney’s continued water shortage.
