NEW DEPUTY-GOVERNOR.

MR. E. C. FUSSELL APPOINTED.

WELLINGTON, May 22.

• Mr. E. C. Fussell has been appointed Deputy-Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, according to an announcement by Mr. Nash today. Mr. Fussell has been In the Reserve Bank since its inception, and was for the major part of the time secretary of the bank. Since April, 1939, he has been assistant to the governors. Before coming to the Reserve Bank, Mr. Fussell was secretary to the General Manager of the National Bank. During the last few years ne has had extensive experience overseas, especially in connection with the central banks of the world, including the Commonwealth Bank ot Australia, the Federal Reserve banking system of the United States, Central Bank of Canada, Bank of England, and several European central banks. Mr. Fussell, Mr. Nash said, Is a New Zealander, well fitted by disposition and extensive technical experience, to hold the position to which he is now. appointed.
