GERMAN PRISONERS

ESCAPE IN ENGLAND.

LONDON, May 16. Two of five German prisoners who penetrated a thick barbed-wire fence and escaped from an internment camp in the north-west of England, have been recaptured m a. small town in the heart ot the moorland country, 15 miles from the, camp. They had been at liberty for 12 hours. The hunt for the remaining three escapees is being carried on by the police, the military special constabulary, and the Home Guard, a systematic search including every possible hide-out. It is believed that the fugitives, after escaping from the came, hid in railway waggons at a railway siding nearby, 'and then split up into two parties. later. The five escaped German prison- , ers of war have been recaptured.
