A meeting of the Judicial committee of the South Canterbury Jockey Club was held in regard to the Duke of Gloucester Cup, which was run on the first day. The evidence revealed that there was some doubt as to whether Mr. G. Paul, the ownerricler of the winner, Norse, had a gentleman rider's certii'cate.

It was decided that the staxe ana cup be impounded until the matter could be cleared up. J. L. Strathern suffered injuries to a collar bone when Astral Flame fell at the second fence in the Pareora Steepechase. Strathern was taken to the Timaru Hospital for observation.
