[Per Press Association] WELLINGTON, March 17. Th e weather report is as follows: — IGencr.al situation: An extensive cyclonic disturbance is centred near Auckland, and is moving in a southierly direction. Forecast: From Taranaki and. East Cape southward strong winds from the easterly quarter, reaching gale force in exposed positions; strong winds from the westerly quarter in th,? north, and extending slowly southward over most of the Nopth Island. Seas (NZ. waters): Rough south of East Cape; elsewhere moderate, but rising about Cook Strait, and north of Farewell Spit. .Eastern Tasman Sea North-easterly winds at first in the northern portion; otherwiq? strong winds from the southerly quarter, and . rather rough to rough seas. Weather dull and unsettled generally, with widespread rain, especially er/t of the main ranges, where some heavy falls are likely. Temperatures mild in the north and moderate in th,? south.
