STAMP SHORTAGE

N.Z. ADAPTATION. WELLINGTON, March 16 Owing to the necessity for conserving paper stocks and stamps, the halfpenny and penny-halfpenny King George VI stamps have Ixicii recalled from all Post Offices, and these will be overprinted with new values, the halfpenny being converted mto a penny, and the penny halfpenny into twopenny. These overprinted stamps will be brought into use during May. There will be no particular date of issue, the stamps being brought into use immediately the stocks of current stamps are exhausted. Under the existing postal rates, neither the halfpenny or penny-halfpenny stamps are used extensively, and Centennial stamps oi these values continue in use for the present.
