STOCKTON NOTES
[Our Own Correspondent] . Messrs G. Duggan, J. McArthur, and Hunter, Inspectors of Mines, paid a visit to Stockton Mine on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. W. Falla, Westport, were visitors to the township on Sunday. , , Miss Lightboun has returned to Denniston after spending a holiday with her relatives, Mr. and Mrs. J. Whiskers. Mrs. Gilbertson, left for Wellington on Saturday after spending an extended holiday with Mr. and Mrs J'. Wilson. Mr. A. Brownlie, of Westport, paid a visit to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Brownlie, on Sunday last. Miss M. Potter, of Westport, was a visitor during last week-end and was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Brownlie. The Picture Company held the weekly euchre tournament on Monday evening, Mrs. J. Whiskers winning the prize. The Patriotic Committee held a meeting in the Stockton) Hall on Tuesday evening to select a Princess for the Navy Queen. A number of young girls attended the meeting, so it was decided to put all their names into a hat and the first to be drawn would be the princess. Miss Nan Stewart was drawn Ist. and Miss Gladys Berdinner 2nd. After the meeting the usual card games were held in aid of the patriotic funds. Messrs R. Shearer, F. Connew and Mrs. L. Morgan shared the prizes. Miss Gettley, left on return to Westport during the week-end after spending a holiday with Mr. and Mrs. D. Rees. Mr. and Mrs. S. Chippendale, have returned from Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Blythe, of Granity. were visitors to the township on Sunday.
