Simpson, Postmaster, Brunnerton, who is on annual holidays, i left on Saturday, en route for Gore. _j Mr Holland, of Greymouth, is reliev- , ing Postmaster here. y Mr and Mrs G. Smith and family, returned last evening from a visit to the Glaciers. The annual meeting of the Brunner Brass Band was held in Taylor- ‘ ville. Mr T Morgan presided over a good attendance. Moana tennis team travelled to Taylorville on Saturday and played a number of friendly games with the local team. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea, and an enjoyable time was spent in ideal weather. Following are the results (Moana names being mentinoed first) —Ladies’ singles: Miss Stack v. There was a large crowd present at the Red Cross social and dance, held in Wallsend Hall on Saturday evening. Brunner Band played several selections outside the hall at 8 p.m. Miss Watson supplied the music for the dance, assisted by Miss Mc-
Neish (violin), Mr N. Gibson (drums). Mr R. Moth was M.C. During the evening items were contributed by Mr J. McGuinness (song), Mrs Martin (song). Miss McNeish (violin solo), Royce Kerr (tap dance), Miss Fentiman (solol, Mrs H Browning (solo). Opportunity was taken to present the First Aid certificates. Mr S. B. Quintrell, president of the West Coast Red Cross Society (also president of the Brunner branch of the Red Cross Society) called upon the following to receive their certificates: Mesdames W. Purdy, E. Rutherford, T. Millar, J. Calder. W. Gutberlet, Misses JMcLeod, E. Hill and Mr G. Beu. Mr R l . Moth, who has qualified for tne First Aid Medallion, is to be presented with it later, as it had not yet come to hand. Mr Quintrell congratulated the recipients of the certificates on the knowledge they had gained at the classes and made special reference to the humane work of the Red Cross Society in every part of the world to-day He invited anyone interested to join’ the classes. Before concluding, Mr Quintrell said he wished to thank the tutors of the classes, the Brunner Band for turning out that evening and rendering a programme of music outside the hall, and also thanked everyone who assisted to make the social such a success. Dancing continued till the early hours of the morning.
