TRIAL BLACK-OUT

Ordered in Auckland AUCKLAND, February 14. A trial black-out in the homes m Auckland City and suburbs is to be held next Tuesday night. The period for the black-out is to be from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will be suggested to the householders that, while interior lights may be kept burning so that the normal life of the home may continue, they will be asked to arrange that no beams from these lights can be seen from outside The purpose of this black-out is to enable the citizens to see what would be expected of them in the event of a black-out being called for at short notice. It is not intended, on this occasion, to include the street lights or the motor-car lights in the trial CAMERA CONFISCATED GERMAN FINED £lO AT WELLINGTON WELLINGTON, February 14. GERMAN INTERNEES RECAPTURED IN VICTORIA MELBOURNE, February 14. The three German internees who escaped on February 7 were captured by armed police, on the New South Wales bank of the Murray River, near Echuca. During their seven days’ freedom, the men lived on rabbits, fruit and vegetables.
