AIR AGREEMENT
BRITAIN AND CANADA (Received Feb. 6, 12.45 a.m.) OTTAWA, February 5. Mr MacKenzie King, Prime Minister, announced that a supplementary air agreement between Canada and the United Kingdom was signed by Mr Ralston at London on January 7, wnereunder there will be the raising of up to 25 all-Canadian squadrons as the immediate aim of Canada under the empire scheme, in addition to three Canadian squadons at present in Britain. It was agreed that R.A.F. officers and ground crew should go to Canada and be gradually replaceable by Canadians when the latter are available. Al) Canadians trained under the scheme would wear the Canadian uniform, whether posted to Canadian squadrons or not. Mr MacKenzie King said that ground personnel for squadrons to be sent to Britain would at first be by the R A.F., though later would be replaceable by Canadians. This was necessitated by Britain’s request for concentration of production, pilots and air crews.
