THE WEATHER
[Per Press Association] WELLINGTON, February 4. The weather report and forecast are as follows:— General situation: A low pressure trough extends to the north-wes: and south-east of Cook Strait; pressure ha s risen over south-eastern Australia; winds fresh or strong north-westerlies at first over the North Island; elsewhere fresh southwesterly to southerly and southerlies becoming general by' Thursday. Seas (N.Z. waters): Slight or moderate inshore north of Napier; elsewhererough at times. Eastern Tasman Sea': Fresh south-westerly winds soon prevailing; sea rather rough. Weather: Cool, changeable hnd showery over most of the South Island, bul conditions improving rapidly over the southern half; elsewhere cloudy to overcast with rain at times, and with falling temperatures; some heavy falls in the central provinces.
