THE WEATHER
[Per Press Association] WELLINGTON, January 16. The weather report and forecast are as follows: — General situation: An anti-cyclone is centred over the North Island, while a weak low pressure trough lies across south-eastern Australia. Forecast—Winds: Easterlies to northerlies prevailing, the force for the most part being light to moderate, but freshening at times in the far north and east of the main ranges. Seas (New Zealand waters): Slight Io moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate winds between east and north, with slight to moderate seas; winds later freshening in the west, and seas rising somewhat. Weather fair to line, with rising temperatures. Cloud is increasing, however, in North Auckland and South Westland, with some scattered drizzle likely after twenty-four hours.
