WEDDINGS

HIBBS—MACK. The wedding was celebrated on New Year’s Day at the Cnurcn ot Christ, Greymouth, of Lily, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. H. Mack, Blaketown, and William, son of Mr and Mrs A. Hibbs, formerly of Camerons. Pastor •R. A. Blampied olliciated. Mr W. Best was at the organ and during the signing of the register, Mrs Best sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of white brocaded satin, cut on classical lines with fitted bodice. Her embroidered veil was caught with a halo of orange blossom and she carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies and maidenhair fern. Miss Peggy Mack, sister of the bride, attended as bridesmaid, attired in a frock of green crinkled taffeta, with matching tulle halo, and carrying a boquet to tone. Dawn Potter, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl, wearing a frock of apricot crepe-de-chine with matching tulle halo and Victorian posy. Mr R. Chisholm was best man. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a horse-shoe by Conine Smithson of Dunollie.

The reception was held at Harker’s where -the bride’s mother received the guests, wearing a navy wool sheer ensemble, with accessories to tone, and shoulder spray of pink carnations. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a navy pin stripe costume, with navy hat, fur stole, and shoulder spray. Mr and Mrs W. Hibbs left later by car for Christchurch, the bride travelling in a lilac suit with matching accessories. HODGSON—MURTHA. The wedding took place at the Catholic Cathedral, Christchurch, recently, of Kathleen, daughter of Mr and the late Mrs Murtha, Kumara, to Cecil James, son of Mrs and the late Mr Hodgson, Christchurch. Rev Father McGuire officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her brother-in-law. Mr George Cains, wore a frock of pink sheer with hat and shoes to tone, and carried a bouquet of pink carnations, sw’eet peas and maiden-hair-fern.

The bridesmaid was Miss Mary Shannahan, niece of the bride. .She was attired in a frock of grey sheer relieved with pink, and hat and shoes to match. She also carried a bouquet of carnations and sweet peas. The best man was Mr Beit White.

A reception was held at the Winter Gardens. Mrs Cains, sister of the bride, received the guests, wearing a grey silk crepe, with accessories to tone. Mrs Hodgson, mother of the bridegroom, wore a navy costume, and hat and shoes to match. When the bride and bridegroom left for the West Coast, tne bride wope a violet frock, with accessories to match. Prior to her marriage the bride was entertained at an afternoon tea party, where she was the recipient of a silver service from the guests and staff of the Central Hotel. Christchurch, also a cheque from Mr and Mrs Goulding, the proprietors.
