350 FOR BRITAIN MONTHLY. (Received January 9, 8.40 p.m.' WASHINGTON. January 8 The United States military plane production is now about 700 machines P er month. The output is being divided, almost equal parts going one to the United States and one to Britain and her Allies. Approximately half of the combat, planes, and half of trainer planes, and an estimated percentage of over seventy ,of the bomber and fighter planes are goine to Britain.
Ford Plants MAY MAKE ’PLANES. (Received January 10, 12.36 a.m.) SAN DIEGO. January 9. • Mr Edsel Ford has disclosed that he is considering the mass manufacture of aircraft tails, wings and fuse- • lages at Detroit, whence they would be shipped to the Consolidated and the Douglas aircraft assembly plants at Fort Worth Tulsa to make “B 24” bombers for a British and American co-ordination scheme, which has been suggested to the Defence Commission by the Army and Air Corps. Mr Ford said: “However, it will require several months of tooling at the Perion and River Rouge plants before they would be able to fill orders.”
