REEFTON RACES To-day’s Meeting The West Coast summer racing circuit will conclude with the Reefton •j'cckey Club’s meeting, which opens to-day and concludes on Saturday. Good fields are engaged, and the horses include several which have come to the meeting after performing in other parts of the South Island during the holiday period. A number of Canterbury jockeys, including L. J. Ellis, A. Messervy, C. 1. Wilson and .4. E. Ellis will be engaged, and their presence should add to the interest of the meeting which promises to be-most successful, hollowing a long spell of dry weather, the track will be hard, and fast times should be recorded. In the main event, the Reefton Handicap, ten horses are engaged, St. Cloud, Rabble and Cymric" not having previously raced on the circuit during the holidays. A special bus leaves Hokitika at 8 a.m,, returning from Greymouth on the arrival of the race train in the evening. A special race train leaves Greymouth at 9.2 a.m., being due at Ree'fton at 11-7 a.m., and leaving on ’’eturn at 5.50 p.m., arriving at Greymouth at 7.58 p.m. A convenience which will be much appreciated is the arrangement made by the club for buses to meet all trains on arrival and convey patrons from the course after the races to the railway station. Luncheon and afternoon tea will be procurable on the racecourse. Brackets will be: Reefton Handicap: Cymric and Entail. Mauria Handicap: Great Bramble and Bright Lad. Single pool betting will operate, the fields, starting times and prospects being:— 12.20.
