MR FRASER'S VISIT . . For “Argus” Celebrations Advice that the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. P. Fraser), will arrive in Greymouth on Saturday, afternoon to attend the Banquet being held in the Lyceum Hall on Saturday evening to celebrate the completion of 2| years’ publication of the “Argus” as a Labour daily, was received last 1 evening by Mr. James O’Brien, M.P. for Westland. ’ Mr. Fraser’s visit will be the first paid to the West Coast by a Prime Minister of the Dpminion since the late Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey visited the district in connection with the 1922 General Election Campaign. .
Leaving Wellington by plane at 8 •a.m., the Prime Minister ‘expects to arrive at Westport at 9.30 a.m. In company with the Minister of Mines and Labour (Hon. P. C. Webb), who will also travel by the same plane, Mr. Fraser will visit Denniston on Saturday morning, and give a public address. In the afternoon, a Civic Reception will be tendered the Primp Minister at Westport, and he will later address the school-children. CIVIC RECEPTION. Messrs Fraser and Webb are due to arrive at Greymouth at 6 p.m. on Saturday, and a, Civic Reception will be tendered him in front of the Town Hall, where speeches will be delivered by the Mayor (Mr. F. A. Kitchingham), Mr. J. O’Brien (Member for Westland), and' Hon. P. C. after which the Prime Mi nis t er reply. If the weather is inclement, the reception will take place inside the Town Hall. 'The Greymouth Municipal Band will be in attendance. “ARGUS” BANQUET. The Prime Minister will be the principal speaker at the “Argus” 21st. Banquet to be held in the Lyceum Hall at 8 p.m. His subject will be “New Zealand’s War Effort.” Mr. Fraser was closely connected with the “Argus” in its earliest months as a Labour paper, and his visit will be an inspiration to the Labour Movement generally. Tickets for the Banquet are procurable from the “Argus” Office, and, owing to the limited accommodation at the Lyceum Hall early application is essential. VISIT TO HOKITIKA. On Sunday the Prime Minister, in company with Messrs Webb and O’Brien, will visit Hokitika in the morning, leaving there early in the afternoon by plane on return to Wellington. ADDRESSES ON WAR EFFORT WELLINGTON, December 18. Rt. Hon. P. Fraser wijl leave Wellington by air for the West Coast on Saturday. Mr Fraser will be accompanied by Hon. P. C. Webu. The Prime Minister will speak on New Zealand’s war effort at public recentions in Westport and in Greymouth.
The banquet in Greymouth on Saturday night, to mark the twentyfirst anniversary of the “Grey River Argus” as a. Labour daily newspaper, will be attended by the Primo Minister, who will give an address on the war effort. Mr Fraser will probably return to Wellington on Sunday.
