NELSON LAND BOARD

At the monthly meeting of the Ndlkon Land Board on Thursday, there were present: Messrs P. R. Wilkinson, Commissioner of Crown Lands (Chairman), F. W. Gibbs,.J. Creighton and A. Rowling. It was resolved “That Mr J. O’Regan’s letter be received and leave of absence granted to him for this meeting. The Board, whilst sympathising with Mr O’Regan, in his long indisposition expressses its pleasure at the good recovery he is making and heartily reciprocates his good wishes for the coming festive season and the New Year.”

Applications for land were as follows:—O.L 386, Secs. 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, and Crown land in Blocks 11, IV, Reefton S.D., area 500 acres, applicants —J. R. Silcock ' and J’. A. Mit-.che-11. Adjourned—Commissioner of Crown Lands to inspect and report to next meeting. Area of 41 acres (approximately) in Block I, Matakitaki S.D., applicant, R. R. Wills —Resolved to grant a year to year license over 40 acfes (excluding residence site) at a rental of £1 per annum as from 1/1/41. Section 16, Town of Springs Junction area 32 perches, applicant, Lilian Maud Ferguson. Section 17, town of Springs Junction, area 32 perches, applicant, Jack Ferguson. Applications for Sections 16 and 17, town of Springs J'unction, by Lilian Maud Ferguson and Jack Ferguson respectively, approved. Area of 70 acres (approx.) in Block XII, Inangahua S.D., applicant, Percy Bell.—Resolved to grant Mr P. B. Bell a year to year license from 1/1/41 at a rental of £2 per annum over the whole island. Section 15, Block VIII, Mawheraiti S.D. area 119 acres, applicant, John J l . Hargreaves.—Resolved to terminate Mr P. Hayden’s license at 31/12/40 and offer Mr J. J. Hargreaves a similar license as from 1/1/41, at a rental of £1 Bs. Cancellations were resolved as follows: Area of 50 acres (approx.) in Block XII, Inangahua S.D., estate of late James Bell; O.L. 902 Area of 500 acres part Section 30, Block V and unsurveyed land in Blocks II and V, Waitakere S.D.; O.L. 1201, Section 19, Block VI, Ngakawau S.D., area 36a 3r 19p; Misc. 403, Area of 80 acres (adjoining Section 65) Block V, Kawatiri S.D. Resolved to terminate license at 8/1/41 unless returns are furnished and royalty paid prior to that date; Part Section 30, town of Murchison, area 1 acre 1 rood 24 perches.—Resolved to grant Mr John Main a similar license from 1/1/41. Surrender was confirmed of Sections 203 and 204, Collingwood Suburban Block XIV, Pakawau S.D., area 50 acres. P. G. Hawkins (as Exer. in estate of H. N. L. Hawkins). Forfeiture was declared of Sections 29, 30 and 31, Block VII, Wai-iti S.D., area 287 ac. 32p. XVII/20. Valuations of Crown land was applied for as residence sites under the Mining Act, 1926—Section 7, town of Millerton and Lot 3 in a subdivision at the Plateau-Burnett’s Face. Resolved to approve of the valuations fixed.

The Conservator of Forests, Nelson, forwarded proposals by local bodies as under for the expenditure of fifths of revenue from State Forests.:—Collingwood C.C. period ending 30/9/40, £l2 16s lid; Buller C.C. period ending 30/9/40, £45 19s lOd; Inangahua, period ending 30/9/40, £BO 10s lid; Waimea, period ending 30/9/40, £1 Is 3d.—Approved. The Board also dealt with 11 items “in Committee.”
