RAID ON BERLIN
CROWDS SURPRISED In the Restaurants [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn. J (Received December 16, 8.45 p.m.) . LONDON, December 15. At Berlin it has been announced that a few British planes reached Berlin on Sunday night, but tney merely dropped in one suburb. Ther e was a brief dir alarm, and then came the...“all clear.” This was th e first British air raid on Berlin for nineteen days There was only light anti-aircraft firing for ton minutes. Owing to the lengthy gap since the last raid on Berlin, tens of. thousands of people were caught Tn CTr e restaurants in the west end, resulting in a tremendous jam bn th e buses and iP the subways when the “ail clear” was sounded.
Prolonged Attack ON BERLIN AREA. (Received Dec. 17, 1.45 a.m.) LONDON, December 16. It is officially stated that R.A.F. bombers on Sunday night made a prolonged attack on targets in the Berlin area. R.A.F. Attacks ON FRENCH PORTS. RUGBY, December 15. An Air Ministry communique issued states that last night, small formations of the Coastal Command aircraft attacked the enemy-occupied ports of Brest and Lorient. All our aircraft returned safely.
