HOKITIKA NOTES
[Our‘ Own Correspondent! HOKITIKA, December 16. The ranges are now in their summer aspect, with an absence of snow, making for warmer weather. The rainfall last week was four points short of two inches, whil e ther e was almost 47 hours of sunshine. The swimming carnival, postponed from last week, will' be held at the Cehtennial Bath s to-morrow evening. The proceeds are entirely to b e devoted to the erection of a cottage for the caretaker, the school children competing having expressed th e wish to forego any prizes with that object in view.
The Bowling Club on Saturday next will be represented here by the following, team in a match for the Badges: J. Schroder, Henham, Watson, King; Ballinger, R. Roberts, M. Spiers, D. Stevenson; McCormick, Algar, Breeze. Gilligan; Grant, Bennett, Lakin, Bain; Pedder. Cooke, Hoffman, Benjamin; Sherman, Thompson, Conning, Fraser; Patchett, Tulloch, Jordan, Fredric (colts). A challenge gam e for the Reynolds Badges was played on Saturday, and resulted in a win for the chalil-ngers by three points. Th P teams were: Sherman, Roberts, Hoffman. G.llignn (holders), and J. Schroder. Henham. Watson, King.
