MENTAL SLAVERY
UNDER THE NAZIS. RUGBY, December 5. “The Times,” has a leading article on “one of the most appalling aspects of Nazism, its suppression of activities of the free mind.” “The Times” says: Hitler knows that pursuit of truth for its own sake, is consistent with Nazi doctrine. Therefore, he seeks everywhere in his own country, first of all, to imprison the mind. The extent to which he has succeeded already is a major tragedy. By sheer violence he has expelled, and sometimes killed, men of learning in Holland, Czechoslovakia, and other States. In those three countries at least, he has closed the leading universities, and made point of terrorising the younger generation. Such education as taught in the elementary school is tinctured with the poison of Nazism.”
