N.Z. AEROPLANE FUND
OVER £25.000 WELLINGTON, September 10. The Minister of Finance announced to-day that a total, of £36,1*21 13s 3d had been paid in on account of the aeroplane fund. Of that amount, the “New Zeaiand Herald,” Auckland, contribution was £25,592 12s 3d. and the Southland Fighter Fund £10,500. The Wellington “Evening Post’s” total collection to date for this fund amounts to £10,485 6s 7d INVERCARGILL, September Id. To-day a cheque for £10.500 was sent io th e . Prim e Minister by the treasurer of the Southland Provincial Patriotic Council on behalf of the Southland Fighter Plane Fund Committee. Thi s is to purchase a second plane for the Royal Air Force, monev for th 0 first plane having already been sent and acknowledged by the Air Ministry. It is the wish of the donors that, if possible, ffio plane be named “Southland —ll ■ and be flown by a New Zea’and a’rman.
